Jon Cioschi is an experienced criminal defense and civil rights attorney, whose work is informed by over a decade’s experience fighting injustice in the criminal legal system. Prior to joining Wiseman & Schwartz, Mr. Cioschi started his legal career as a public defender with the Defender Association of Philadelphia, where he spent over three years successfully litigating hundreds of trials and hearings in cases ranging from attempted murder to retail theft and earning a reputation as a fierce, dedicated advocate for his clients. He then clerked for the Honorable Beverly B. Martin on the United States Court of Appeals for the Eleventh Circuit, where he worked on numerous criminal matters, ranging from federal drug cases to state capital murder cases, and a variety of civil rights matters, including many civil rights cases challenging misconduct by police and correctional officers. A 2014 honors graduate of Harvard Law School, Mr. Cioschi has also worked with the ACLU of Massachusetts, where he helped to build the organization’s powerful response to the Hinton Drug Lab Scandal, which ultimately resulted in the dismissal of thousands of wrongful drug convictions; the ACLU’s Criminal Law Reform Project; the Public Defender Service for the District of Columbia; and the Capital Habeas Corpus Unit of the Federal Community Defender for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania.
