Christina Matthias is an experienced civil rights attorney with a decade of experience fighting the injustices of the criminal legal system and a particular focus on wrongful conviction litigation. Christina has litigated civil rights lawsuits in federal courts across the country on behalf of innocent people who were wrongfully accused, convicted, and incarcerated for decades as a result of police misconduct. She has achieved major, record-breaking settlements in multiple jurisdictions in these cases. Before turning her focus to civil rights litigation, Christina began her legal career as a public defender in Manhattan, where she handled hundreds of criminal matters ranging from misdemeanors to serious felonies. Christina earned her law degree with Honors at the University of Chicago, and also holds a BA from the University of Pennsylvania and M.Phil with Distinction in International Peace Studies from the University of Dublin Trinity College. She served as a law clerk for the Hon. Michael M. Baylson in the Eastern District of Pennsylvania.
